I cannot thank Mr Chana enough for the fantastic care I received from him and his team. I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis which, over the years, has greatly affected my knees, causing both severe pain and difficulty walking. Mr Chana was very informative, explaining everything to me in great detail, giving me confidence in my surgery. I had a right total knee replacement in July 2014 and a left total knee replacement in 2015. I am now in much less pain with increased mobility which has made a huge difference to both my home and work life. Mary White

I had had a successful right hip operation in 2012 but in 2014 fell off my bike and ruptured the ACL in my left knee, which was reconstructed July 2014. The stress, limping from this injury and subsequent operation, affected my, up that point, successfully replaced right hip. Bursitis developed, giving acute pain both in the daytime, but especially at night. I lost sleep because I could not get comfortable in any position and I had to resign myself to life in the slow lane. Then my osteopath, who had been trying to relieve the pain by weekly treatments , met Mr Chana at a conference. He found out about keyhole surgery that might possibly help me. I got a referral to Mr Chana, who listened carefully to the description of my problem (unlike a previous consultant, who, without even looking at my hip sent me for Cortizone Injections). An operation called an ITB keyhole release was performed and in 10 weeks I was completely healed and pain free. I have a number of friends who have bursitis who have been in pain for years. No-one has claimed that this operation is always successful, but it worked for me and it could well work for others. Mr Chana gave me hope and subsequently, with his help, I got my life back.

I had a cheilectomy on my right foot in October 2015 and cheilectomy and fusion of toe on my left foot in December 2015. Mr Chana gave me realistic expectations of the operations. On every occasion I met with him he was professional, empathetic with a cheerful disposition. Although I was not expecting him to give me a steroid injection into an arthritic joint, he did so at an outpatient appointment to help aleviate the pain in that joint. I am also attending physiotherapy appointments in the hope that my mobility improves. I would certainly recommend Mr Chana to anyone who requires lower limb orthopaedic surgery.

I first had a consultation with Mr Chana to discuss the possibilties of a hip replacement in July 2015, & decided to go ahead with the operation in the November. I felt very comfortable in discussing the problem & confident. The operation went well, (at the BMI Shelburne), although it a big shock to the system I have recovered well. I no longer have the back pain which has affected me for years. The scar is healing well, with minimal discomfort. After 8 weeks, I do not need a stick or walk with a limp. Although I take a stick with me, more as a visual aid to avoid people bumping into me & knocking me over. I am informed the 2nd hip will need replacing at some point & would want Mr Chana to perform this too.

Mr Chana carried out an Arthroscopy on a torn miniscus in my left knee. His approach and empathy were excellent and he explained and answered my questions both before and after my operation, giving me guidance on looking after the knee joint in the future. The whole process from initial appointment, through the operation, to the post op meeting was excellent and I would fully recommned Mr Chana and all his support team at Ashford Hospital.
